Photos - Winchcombe, northern Cotswolds

A walk through the market town of Winchcombe, north of Cheltenham in the northern Cotswolds. Winchcombe, like Burford, is not a typical golden Cotswolds town. The main street is lined with an eclectic mix of historic building styles. Locals say that Winchcombe is still a "working" town. Instead of upscale shops for tourists it has the shops you need if you live there. Winchcombe sits in a valley surrounded by hills on three sides. A few years ago we spent a month in a cottage in Winchcombe and loved the town and surrounding area. This area is great for walkers/hikers and a good base for exploring the northern Cotswolds.
